A design-based estimate from the national nutrition survey: the weighted mean daily intake of one nutrient for a population you describe, with the confidence interval the survey design supports and the design block it was computed from. This is the one tool here that describes nobody — it is a statistic about the population the survey was designed to represent, not a measurement of a product or a person. Where the design cannot support an estimate at the published precision, the answer is withheld with the criteria it failed, and a withheld estimate is not a zero. The recall covers one day, so the mean estimates usual intake for the population while the spread around it does not describe how individual intakes vary; no percentile and no share above a cut-point follows from it.
