citature¹

6 federal sources · operated by bricksofa

Answers with receipts.

Every answer names the record it came from, that record's own version and dates, what it does not cover, and how any join was made. This page says who stands behind that.

What citature is

citature answers questions about food, supplements, substances and labels from public-domain US federal records, and returns every answer with the record it came from. It publishes 10 tools over one MCP endpoint: 6 lookups that restate a public record and are free, and 4 priced answers built on the join between them.

The product is not the data1.

What citature sells is one substance vocabulary across food, supplement and regulatory records, and an answer that carries its own evidence: the record cited, that record's own version and dates, what the answer does not cover, and how every join was made.

Who operates it

citature is built and operated by bricksofa. The code that serves these answers is one repository, and the catalogue this site renders is a checked-in file in it — the prices here are the prices the meter charges, because they are read from the same line.

There is no sales step2.

What it is built over

Primary US federal records only, never an aggregator: USDA FoodData Central, NIH ODS Dietary Supplement Label Database, openFDA, National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), FDA Substance Registration System (UNII), Electronic Code of Federal Regulations.

No upstream here retains what it published. For a past citation to stay verifiable, citature holds the bytes it was built from — so a citation resolves to the record as it read that day rather than to whatever the publisher serves now.

What it will not do

citature reports what a record says. It renders no verdicts, no diagnoses and no advice, and it is not a substitute for a clinician.

A record that does not declare something has not declared its absence3.

A Daily Value is a labelling reference from federal regulation, not a Dietary Reference Intake4.

An answer over a survey sample is an estimate about a population, never a measurement of a product or a person, and where the survey design cannot support a number at the published precision the estimate is withheld with the criteria it failed. A withheld estimate is not a zero.
